Minister Konda Surekha holds review on Bonalu festival

Minister for Endowments Konda Surekha stated that the process of selecting festival committees for other major temples would be completed in two or three days, during a review meeting with the Commissioners under GHMC in her office at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Minister told the officials of the Endowments department that Ashada Bonala festival should be held to reflect the culture and traditions of Telangana. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has allocated Rs 20 crore for the celebrations. A State-level festival committee consisting of seven members has been formed under the leadership of the Chief Minister to organise the Bonalu in a grand manner. The committee includes Chief Minister,Minister of Revenue, Hyderabad and Rangareddy district in-charge ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Yadav, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, and the Chief Secretary. The allocated amount will be used for the decoration of temples, purchase of silk clothes, printing of books giving information about Bonalu, use of elephant services for Ambari, electricity, culture, information and public relations.
The Minister advised the officials to organise Bonalu to reflect the image of the Telangana government. Referring to the issue faced during the offering of Bonalus of Joginis, the officials were directed to arrange separate queue lines for them. Children and elderly people should be careful. It has been suggested to the authorities to organise hoardings and other promotional programmes to showcase the festival and to take measures to broadcast the Bonala festival live on DD Yadagiri channel. The officials were ordered to organise the celebrations in Telangana Bhavan at the centre of Delhi to enhance the reputation of Telangana. The Minister took clarification from the officials on the allocation of funds required for these works.
