Minister for Civil Supplies, Nadendla Manohar, has assured the provision of super specialty medical services at the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Eluru. He directed the doctors and nurses to work in a coordinated manner to ensure better patient care.
The Minister conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital on Thursday. During his visit, he reviewed the outpatient statistics and inquired about the daily footfall of patients. He also examined the outpatient registration process on the computer system.
Expressing displeasure over discrepancies in the blood bank operations, he reprimanded the in-charge for the flaws in its management. Manohar instructed the Vaidya Parishath Executive Engineer to complete the pending drainage works, CC road repairs, and water pipe leakage fixes by February 28, warning of strict action if the deadlines were not met.
The Minister inspected the ophthalmology and ICU wards, interacting with patients and inquiring about their health conditions. He also visited the orthopaedic ward, where a patient complained about delays in seeing a doctor despite arriving at 9 AM. Angered by the negligence, the Minister took the doctor to task for the delay in attending to patients.
Addressing the media later, Manohar highlighted that the Eluru GGH had gained recognition for delivering quality medical services in the erstwhile West Godavari district. He assured further upgrades and enhancements to the 600-bed facility, including filling all vacant doctor and nurse positions and equipping the hospital with additional medical infrastructure.
The inspection was attended by GGH Superintendent MS Raju, MLAs P Dharma Raju and Chirri Balaraju, former MLAs Ganni Veeranjaneyulu and Ghanta Murali, along with other officials.`
