Minister opposes ethanol plant in residential areas

Must read

Minister for Forest A Indrakaran Reddy on Tuesday expressed his unhappiness over a manufacturer establishing an ethanol manufacturing plant in residential areas at Dilawarpur in the Nirmal district. He agreed with the protesting farmers that the plan could damage crops due to pollution caused by the industry.

The Minister agreed that the installation of the plant in the residential area may adversely impact the health of people and damage the crops due to the discharge of effluents from the plant. He asked the manufacturer not to establish the plant in the residential area.

Indrakaran Reddy, however, made it clear that he was not opposed to establishing the ethanol plant in the district. He asked the manufacturer to establish the plant away from the residential area. He asked the manufacturer to hold a meeting with the people and explain to them the salient features of the industry and dispel their fears.
