Must read

Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy has assured the people of the town that steps would be taken to set up a sewerage treatment plant at Sandanapalli garbage dumping yard and develop the Udayasamudram project area into a tourist spot.
The Minister took part in Bakrid prayers along with Muslim brethren on Munugode road here on Monday.
Afterwards, he inspected the underground drainage works on the service road to Panagal fly-over and asked the officials and contractors to undertake curing well near the manholes. He wanted them to take steps to find a permanent solution to the underground drainage problem in the town.
During the last regime, the underground drainage works were executed in a rather hurried way, posing problems near the Panagal fly-over. Therefore, he said that Rs 5.5 crore got sanctioned to solve the problem so that not a single water drop would accumulate on the city roads no matter any torrential rain the city experiences.
As the National Highway winds up his way through the city, the Ram temple, Anjaneya Swamy temple, Khabarastan and shops on Devarakonda roads were needed to be demolished, he said.
To avoid the highway passing through the town, an Outer Ring Road project is being taken up at a cost of Rs 700 crore. Therefore, heavy vehicles need not enter the town and directly proceed to their destination via Outer Ring Road. The works of the project are going to be grounded soon. As part of the works, a statue of Mrs Indira Gandhi is going to be set up near Chaya Someswara Swamy temple at Panagal and the Mrs Indira Gandhi junction would be beautified.
A road over bridge with an escalator facility is going to be set up St Alphonses High School to avoid students getting injured due to accidents taking place while they were crossing the road.
The YSR Circle on Devarakonda road is going to be developed.
The government will provide compensation to the Outer Ring Road project displaced persons as per the market price and also allot them alternative house sites.
Strong traffic signal system is going to be set up in the town to avoid road acidents. Also, roadside trees which are likely to cause road accidents are being removed.
Municipal chairman Burri Srinivas Reddy, vice-chairman Abbagoni Ramesh Goud, municipal councillors and others were present.
