Minister suggests installation of  solar panels on endowment land

Minister of Endowments Konda Surekha on Tuesday directed the officials to prepare an action plan for the government to set up solar power plants on endowment lands to generate income for the department. She was holding a review meeting at Secretariat on Tuesday.
She suggested to the officials that the Common Good Fund should be spent on temples which lacked regular source of income.
On the occasion of Bonala festival, the authorities have been directed to decorate the temples and organise cultural programmes to promote the culture of Telangana along with creating facilities for the devotees without any disturbance. “CM Revanth Reddy will be requested to allocate funds of Rs150 crores to CGF under grant in aid. The officials are requested to create the post of ‘Head of Account’ for accuracy in the expenditure of CGF funds. Also, Bonala poster and calendar will be unveiled by CM Revanth Reddy on the occasion of Bonala fair”, the minister added.
The minister directed the officials to formulate procedures for setting up solar power plants on uncultivated and economically unviable lands in Telangana in collaboration with Telangana Renewable Energy Resources Development Corporation (TGREDCO). She said that by selling the generated electricity to  discoms, the revenue will be generated for the government along with the conservation of the lands of the revenue
She suggested the installation of solar power plants on roofs of the temples and directed the officials to speed up the activities towards the installation of rooftop solar power plants under the auspices of NTPC primarily on Bhadrakali temple and YadagiriGutta temples.
Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramayar, Commissioner Hanmantha Rao, Additional Commissioners Jyoti, Krish naveni, Deputy Commissioner Ramakrishna Rao, Assistant Commissioner Balaji, SC Mallikarjun Reddy, DE Om Prakash, EE Kanakadurga Prasad, Project Director VV Ramakrishna, General Manager GSV Prasad from REDCO and others participated in this meeting.
