Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao inaugurated  a biomass plant constructed by Agni Esco Private Limited in In the Thallada mandal in the district. Gudivada MLA from  Andhra Pradesh Venigandla Ramu was also present.
On this occasion, the plant’s Managing Director, Venigandla Kishore, explained that the primary reason for selecting Thallada mandal for the plant’s establishment was due to the increasing air pollution caused by burning the leftover crops like corn, chili, sugarcane, and paddy, as well as the depletion of soil fertility. He further added that in order to reduce farmers’ losses, the plant would collect the agricultural residues, process them into pellets, and sells them to industries.
He said that this initiative would help farmers avoid soil degradation, prevent financial losses, and contribute to environmental conservation. The plant has been set up to process agricultural waste while raising awareness among farmers. The event was attended by State Congress leader Matta Dayanand, Kalluru APMC Chairman Neeraja Prabhakar, Thallada mandal Congress unit president Kapa Sudhakar and others.
