Minister urges CM to release 5 TMC of water from NS project to Prakasam

Minister for Municipal Administration Audimulapu Suresh has said that release of water from Nagarjuna Sagar project is imperative to meet the irrigation and drinking water requirement of Prakasam district.

Minister Audimulapu Suresh said in a statement here on Monday that he had met Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Tadepalli camp office on Monday.

He apprised the Chief Minister of the need for releasing water from the NS project. He explained to the Chief Minister that the water depleted to dead storage in some CPWS scheme projects.

The Minister said that he had urged Jagan Mohan Reddy to take steps to release 5 TMC of water to Prakasam district. If water is not released from the NS project to Prakasam district, irrigation can not be supplied from SS tanks, he stated.

Minister Audimulapu Suresh said that he had explained to the Chief Minister that if the SS tanks in Mutukula in Pullalacheruvu mandal, Gollapalli in Tripurantakam mandal, Dupadu, Yerragondapalem, Markapuram, Darshi, Chandavaram, Kurichedu and Mundlamuru in Donakonda were filled with water, the problem of drinking water of about 6.50 lakh people could be resolved.

Responding positively to this, the Chief Minister assured that the ENCs and engineering officers would take a decision and take action in the meeting of the Krishna River Water Management Board to be held on 19th of this month. Jaganmohan Reddy assured the minister of taking steps to release water immediately, Minister Audimulapu Suresh said.
