Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud on Tuesday vowed to ensure that the pace of construction of the super-specialty hospital in Mahabubnagar is speeded up. The super-specialty hospital is designed to treat all kinds of diseases.
In the meanwhile, arrangements have been made to ensure that a cardiologist is available on every Tuesday at the government headquarter hospital in Mahabubanagar, the Minister said. A permanent post for a cardiologist was sanctioned. Efforts are being made to appoint a cardiologist, he said.
Srinivas Goud was inaugurating a free cardiac screening camp at the government headquarters hospital. Telangana topped the country in the number of medical colleges. Telangana has a medical college in each district, he said. Three colleges were established during 70 years of rule in the combined Andhra Pradesh. In the new State of Andhra Pradesh, the Telangana government established a medical college in each district. It would help people secure quality healthcare and medical services on a par with the corporate hospitals.
During the coronavirus pandemic, several patients discharged themselves from corporate hospitals in Hyderabad and got quality treatment in Mahabubnagar Government Hospital, the Minister pointed out. The T-Diagnostics is now conducting 134 tests free of cost. The T-Diagnostics has been sending the results to the mobile phones of those who have undergone tests by the same evening.
He recalled that there were a mere 15 doctors in the Mahabubnagar Government Hospital in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. The government has increased the number of doctors in the Mahabubnagar Government Hospital to between 130 and 140. The number of nurses increased to 359 from just 39 in the past, he pointed out.
District Collector G Ravi Nayak, MUDA chairman Gandji Venkanna, NIMS former director D Prasada Rao, Mahbubnagar Government Hospital Superintendent Dr Ram Ksihan and others were present.
