Local MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy has praised Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for coming to the rescue of the farmers who lost their crops due to unseasonal rains.
The MLA on Monday distributed compensation cheques worth Rs 8,00,000 to 300 farmers at the Sayampet Rytu Vedika.
The Chief Minister took a decision and inspected the rain-damaged fields. Further, the MLA said that the government provided water for irrigation for two crops to the farmers in Shayampet mandal.
The maize produced in the mandal is being procured through Markfed. Further, paddy procurement centres have been set up in villages. The MLA assured the farmers that the government would procure the rain-soaked paddy and asked them not to be worried about it.
The government has been implementing welfare schemes for the farmers in Telangana, he said, quoting the example of providing insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to farmers under Rytu Beema.
Further, he said that the Rytu Bandhu scheme is being implemented to extend input subsidy to the farmers. To discuss the agricultural needs a Rytu Vedika has been developed for every 5,000 acres of land.
Later, the MLA inaugurated the paddy procurement centre at Pattipaka village.
Mandal-level elected people’s representatives, officials and farmers were present.
