The Centre is hatching a conspiracy to weaken the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), said Government whip Balka Suman on Friday.
Addressing the media at the MLA’s camp office here on Friday, he hauled the Centre over the coals for trying to deal a crippling blow to the SCCL, which is making rapid strides to become a major venture in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
He recalled that the SCCL had suffered losses and almost went into the jaws of the BIFR during the days, he said, describing the SCCL is a huge mine of black gold. In Telangana, the SCCL became prosperous, he pointed out. The SCCL is making profits and offering employment, he said, adding that the Centre has a stake of 49%.
He demanded that Prime Minster Narendra Modi, who would be visiting Ramagundam on Saturday should answer the questions posed by the government. He warned that the Prime Minister would face protest if he failed to explain his stand on the Centre’s to weaken the SCCL. He wondered how long BJP State unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy would shamelessly ‘carry the footwear’ of the BJP leaders.
Charging Modi with adopting an anti-Telangana posture, he wondered about dedicating the fertiliser unit, which was inaugurated long back, now?
He alleged that the PM conspired to privatise the SCCL. Demanding the PM to exempt SCCL workers from the purview of income-tax, he urged the PM to revise the pension upwards of the pension amount payable to the pensioners.
