In response to reports of food poisoning related to momos in Hyderabad, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) initiated a special inspection drive across the city, targeting eateries selling momos.
In regard to multiple individuals suffering from food poisoning after consuming momos at an establishment in Nandi Nagar, Banjara Hills, the GHMC’s Food Safety Wing traced the location running under WOW Hot Momos and Delhi Hot Momos.
Additionally the officers visited Swathi Hospital and Tanvir Hospital and confirmed that 13 people had been admitted with food poisoning symptoms attributed to the same momo vendor. GHMC officials visited both hospitals, met with the affected patients and their doctors.
Following these incidents, the GHMC conducted an extensive inspection drive on Tuesday visiting 110 momo vendors across Hyderabad. A total of 69 samples were collected and sent for testing to ensure compliance with food safety standards. Food handlers were educated on proper hygiene and sanitation practices to prevent future incidents of contamination.
