In a major relief to Anganwadi teachers and helpers, the Government of Telangana has doubled the end-of-service benefits and granted permission for voluntary disengagement from service at the age of 60. An official order regarding this was issued on Friday (May 30) by the Department of Women, Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens.
The order, issued by Secretary Anita Ramachandran, enhances the retirement benefit for Anganwadi Teachers from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, and for Anganwadi Helpers from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh, effective upon disengagement at the age of 65 years.
The same benefits will be available to those opting for voluntary disengagement from the age of 60.
The move follows a proposal from the Director of the Women Development and Child Welfare Department and was cleared with the concurrence of the Finance Department.
The revised benefits will apply to all Anganwadi staff disengaged after April 30 every year. Those availing this facility will also continue to be eligible for Asara pensions.
