Must read

Witnessing the struggles faced by the midday meal workers, especially her aunt who is suffering from serious illnesses and unable to carry heavy cooking utensils used for making meals, P Vineela, a Class X student of Rajanna Sircilla district, has created a women-friendly utensil supporter machine which helps in lifting huge utensils, thereby creating a change in the lives of workers. Her innovation has been used in a few government schools in Sircilla.
In order to provide quality meals to government school students, the State government has implemented the mid-day meal scheme. Vineela, under the guidance of her physical science teacher Thaduri Sampath Kumar, has created the utensil supporter machine.
Speaking to the Pioneer Correspondent, Vineela of Dammannapet said, “My aunt is a mid-day meal worker. I have seen her struggling with heavy utensils everyday. So, I thought of developing an instrument that will give relief to the mid-day meal workers. The material used in making this women-friendly supporter machine, includes aluminum metal frames, wheels, holed lid, heavy utensil and nails with chain.”
Narrating about her innovation, she said that once the utensil is placed on the machine and by rotating the jockey which is fixed on the top of the machine, one can easily lift the heavy utensil and separate the draining rice water from the large utensils without anyone’s help.”
Vineela received the high-range book of world record and School innovation challenge award, South India Science Festival award and Intinta Innovator Award in 2023.
