Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) stated that the Sankranti festival is being celebrated on a grand scale across the state under the NDA alliance government, in contrast to the past five years. The MP made these remarks during the Bhogi celebrations held early Monday morning at Gollapudi One Centre in Ibrahimpatnam Mandal. The event was attended by MP Sivanath, Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad, and their families.
The celebrations began with floral tributes to the statue of TDP founder and former Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao, followed by traditional prayers and the ceremonial lighting of the Bhogi fire. The leaders conveyed Sankranti greetings to the public and enjoyed cultural performances, including Kolatam dances and Gangireddulu displays.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Kesineni Sivanath expressed his hope that the Bhogi festival would bring prosperity and new beginnings into everyone’s lives. He expressed happiness at people traveling from various states and countries to their hometowns to celebrate Sankranti with their families. The MP also shared that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would soon introduce the Rythu Bandhu scheme to support farmers. He emphasized that, under the leadership of the Chief Minister and with the backing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is prioritizing development, farmers’ welfare, and job creation for the unemployed.
Later in the day, Sankranti celebrations continued with grandeur at NTR Bhavan in Gurunanak Colony, Vijayawada. MP Sivanath, accompanied by his wife Janaki Lakshmi, actively participated in the festivities, lighting the traditional Bhogi fire and extending festive wishes to the public. As part of the celebrations, he distributed Bhogi fruits to children.
The MP expressed delight at the many people returning to Andhra Pradesh from other states and abroad to celebrate Sankranti with their loved ones. He highlighted the achievements of the NDA government, including increased pensions, free gas cylinder schemes for women, and the successful launch of Anna Canteens. He also noted the timely payment of government employees’ salaries and the clearance of pending dues before the festival.
Looking ahead, MP Kesineni expressed confidence that by the next Sankranti, significant progress would be visible in the construction of Amaravati, the state’s dream capital, and the Polavaram project. He called upon citizens to actively participate in the development of the state.
