Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath opened the 52nd Hyderabad Region Archery Sports Meet at the Kendriya Vidyalayam at Satyanarayana puram on Thursday.
The MP lit the lamp along with Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Committee Chairman Narendra A Patil. He received the honour from the Bharat Scouts and Guides.
Speaking on the occasion, he said he will strive to conduct international cricket matches at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium in Vijayawada and another stadium at Mangalagiri.
For that, he will have talks with the BCCI authorities with the cooperation of the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), he said.
Also, he asked the ACA authorities to set up the necessary facilities in these two stadiums. The government will provide all facilities for the players in the coming days, he assured.
Later, he announced that the Central government is mulling conducting the Olympics in the country in 2036. The government will file a bid soon by the Indian Olympics Association. In the meantime, the players should stay prepared to participate in the Olympics and take special training, he said.
Once the Olympics is awarded to the country, all sports infrastructure will be set up in the State. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is mulling conducting the National Games in the State to provide sports infrastructure here and encourage players, he added.
