Muslims excluded from State Cabinet: Amjed to Rahul

Must read

Amjed Ullah Khan, spokesman of Majlis Bachao Tahreek, raised his grievances on excluding Muslim leaders from the State Cabinet and other roles, in a letter to Rahul Gandhi, chief of the Indian National Congress (INC) on Sunday.
He stated that the Congress government has not met the expectations of the Muslim community and appears to be functioning more like the BJP government. Prior to elections, Muslims have supported the Congress en masse in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. The community, having rejected the BRS due to its increasing proximity with the BJP, anticipated that the Congress government would bring the necessary changes. However, we regret to report that the Congress government has completely neglected Muslims since coming to power in December 2023.

He also pointed out that under the Congress government in the past eight months, we have seen- no Muslim minister or Muslim MP in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, no Muslim MLA and no Muslim MLC. The Muslim community has been neglected in nominated posts as well. The minority institutions such as the Wakf Board, Urdu Academy, Haj Committee and Minorities Finance Corporation, are bound to have Muslims as chairman. However, in remaining over 50 corporations, only one Muslim was appointed as Chairman of the Food & Civil Supplies Corporation, and another was given an irrelevant post in libraries.   Furthermore, none of the promises made to the Muslim community have been fulfilled, he said. The Congress  released the Minority Declaration with specific promises such as increasing the minority welfare budget to Rs 4,000 crore with a dedicated minorities sub-plan, but they were not implemented.
