Getting the correct projects was one of the hardest things for the Douglas-born actress Amy Jackson. The ever-so versatile actress shared her formidable challenges and how she overcame them all in an interview with The Pioneer’s SHIKHA DUGGAL
Actress Amy Louise Jackson is at last receiving the recognition she deserves, thanks to her roles in movies like Yevadu, Ekk Deewana Tha, and the recently released Mission: Chapter 1. The actress, who was born in Douglas, first gained notoriety in 2010 with the Tamil historical drama film Madrasapattinam, following her role as Jessie in the film Ek Deewana Tha. She went on to feature in a number of popular films and ultimately demonstrated her acting prowess.
It has not been an easy ride for the actress in the Indian film industry. Getting the correct projects was one of the hardest things for an outsider like Amy. She shared her challenges and how she overcame them all in an interview with The Pioneer. Additionally, she will star in the highly anticipated movie Crakk alongside Vidyut Jammwal! She expressed, “I was thrilled to join Crakk’s team. As an actor and a person, Vidyut has my utmost regard, so I was eager to get started on the project and collaborate with him. Vidyut is well known for his spectacular feats and exciting action performances,” Amy shared. When asked how much she resembles her impending role in the big screen production, she replied, “Well, Patricia and I have a lot in common! She is like myself in that she is driven by her career, fiercely devoted, and unafraid to express herself. That determination of hers? I get it completely. Like Patricia, nothing can stop me once I set my mind to anything.” The actress is grateful that she has now been recognized as an actress by both directors and audiences. “Being nervous is part of the excitement,” she exclaimed, adding, “Every film has its own unique set of difficulties, but the excitement of giving an engaging performance and my love of acting are fed by that anxious energy.”
Was it easier for her to play this character? Did she enjoy it? Well, it was energizing, is what Amy had to say. “My journey through life has given me the opportunity to grow both personally and as an actor. With few clothing changes and a focus on performance and action stunts, this character is unadulterated and unrefined. The days of filming consecutive releases are long gone; I now carefully choose my assignments. I thoroughly enjoyed the amazing chance that was Crakk, and the crew, actors, screenplay, and the part itself all contributed to a rich and rewarding experience,” she declared.
In response to our subsequent question, Amy stated, “My character of Patricia Nowak embodies genuineness! Her steadfast devotion to her nation and her work as a police officer are incredibly admirable. She is an honest woman who embodies a sincere dedication to justice and morality without pretense. The script gave me a great opportunity to explore depth and acting by giving me a platform to depict her striking difference, from her tough demeanor at the beginning of the film to the sad, genuine feelings she feels towards the end.”
She added, “It was my dream part; therefore, I was ready for it! I was anticipating the call because I have been a longtime fan of Vidyut’s action films. My first course of action was to visit my neighborhood mixed martial arts gym to intensify the existing training program and hire a nutritionist to assist me in toning down and building muscle. In the interest of research, of course, I also guiltlessly binge-watched Vidyut’s Commando trilogy in one sitting, which I found to be rather enjoyable and a great source of inspiration for tone and vibe.”
