MLC Varudu Kalyani from the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) strongly criticised the opposition TDP’s ‘Mahila Sakthi’, referring to it as ‘Maya Sakhti’. Kalyani accused TDP chief Chandrababu of being a traitor who deceived DWCRA women by promising to waive their loans and subsequently abandoning them.
Speaking at a media briefing on Saturday, the MLC asserted that the TDP’s manifesto was outdated and lacked credibility. She further claimed that the TDP government demonstrated an anti-women governance approach, whereas the ruling YSRCP, led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, focused on creating a women-friendly and empowering governance.
Kalyani said that over the past four years, CM Jagan has brought about a revolutionary administration with new reforms, leading people across the State to view him as the future. She cited various national media surveys indicating that YSRCP is likely to achieve a landslide victory in the upcoming 2024 elections.
The MLC highlighted CM Jagan’s innovative initiatives such as the village volunteer system and secretariat system, which are the first of their kind in the country. These systems enable the government’s welfare schemes to be delivered directly to the beneficiaries in a highly transparent manner, employing DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) and the volunteer and secretariat systems. Kalyani stressed that this approach ensures justice for every eligible beneficiary, leaving no one behind without receiving the benefits.
Kalyani strongly criticised Chandrababu Naidu for cheating and insulting women. She recalled how, before assuming power in 2014, Chandrababu Naidu had promised to waive DWCRA loans amounting to Rs 14,500 crore, only to deceive the women later. Furthermore, she accused Chandrababu Naidu of being a traitor who revoked the zero-interest scheme for women and imposed conditions on fee reimbursement, thereby hindering women’s access to education.
The MLC emphasised the transparent delivery of welfare schemes through the volunteer system and denounced Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan for attempting to undermine this system. She questioned Chandrababu’s disparaging remarks about the volunteers, asking if any volunteer had caused disputes in his own family. Kalyani asserted that Chandrababu, who instigated family conflicts and backstabbed NTR for political power in the state, is the sole culprit.
Furthermore, Kalyani praised Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, stating that he considered the manifesto as sacred as the Bhagavad Gita, Bible, and Quran, and successfully implemented 99 percent of its promises. She referred to CM Jagan as a symbol of faith, admired by women as well. Kalyani concluded by contrasting Chandrababu’s administration, which she claimed betrayed women, with the YSRCP government, which she regarded as an exemplary embodiment of women’s empowerment.
She emphasised that people no longer trust the TDP, whose governance was marred by corruption and injustice.
