Expressing deep concern that the State is now under Rs 10-lakh crore debt and that bills of over Rs 1 lakh crore are pending clearance, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday, said that the previous government totally misused the funds and diverted the Central grants.
Addressing the Legislative Party meeting of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at CK Convention in Mangalagiri, the Chief Minister directed the MPs and MLAs of the alliance to design constituency-wise vision documents of their own. “When we assumed charge, the treasury was empty and there were no funds even to pay the salaries of the employees. Still we are moving ahead with confidence,” Chandrababu told the MPs and MLAs.
Terming the Central assistance as oxygen for a person who is on ventilator, Chandrababu said that the State can never move on the progressive path if there is no Central assistance. Maintaining that efforts are being made to create 20 lakh jobs in the coming five years, he admitted that this tremendous success is possible only with the joint efforts of all the three alliance partners. “I have never experienced this kind of colossal victory in my life. Those who were arrogant with the feeling that they had 151 seats now confined themselves to a mere 11 seats. This is democracy,” Chandrababu remarked.
The Chief Minister made it clear that those who had committed crimes should be punished at any cost, maybe a bit late. Such persons who had committed crimes should be punished, he added.
He is of the opinion that former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy did a grave mistake by closing the Anna Canteens.
Maintaining that the volunteer system ended even when YS Jagan was the chief minister, Chandrababu pointed out that he failed to renew the system. “I will not leave those who had committed mistakes during the YSRCP rule. Inquiries are on,” he said and told the MPs and MLAs to be cautious.
Chandrababu said that the new excise policy will be in force in October first week and called upon the MPs and MLAs to take closer to the people the great job being done by the TDP-led NDA Government. Making it clear that the phase-one works of the Polavaram project will be completed in the next two years, the Chief Minister said that there is no fund crunch for the Amaravathi works.
