Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu hailed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) historic victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and stable governance. He described the win as a victory for the people and criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for failing to meet public aspirations.
Addressing the media at Undavalli on Saturday, Naidu congratulated Prime Minister Modi for ensuring effective governance and expressed confidence that India would achieve comprehensive development under his leadership. He accused the AAP government of neglecting public welfare and failing to fulfil its promises on development.
He highlighted pressing issues in Delhi, such as severe pollution, inadequate healthcare, and poor water and drainage systems, attributing them to poor governance. He remarked that the BJP’s “People First” approach under Modi had been key to progress. Naidu also noted that Delhi, once a thriving hub for migrant workers from states like Bihar, had seen a decline due to deteriorating living conditions.
Reflecting on economic reforms introduced in 1991 by former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao, Naidu credited them with transforming India’s economy. He cited Maharashtra and Gujarat as examples of states that had achieved significant economic growth due to strong leadership and good governance.
Outlining his vision for Andhra Pradesh, he set a goal of making the state’s per capita income the highest in the country by 2047. He also targeted a $2.4 trillion economy and a 15% growth rate, emphasising that sustainable governance and visionary leadership were crucial for achieving these milestones.
Naidu also criticised corruption in key sectors, particularly the liquor industry, and condemned the mismanagement of public institutions and resources.
He asserted that those who fail to generate wealth or increase government revenue should not remain in power, stressing that governance should prioritise public welfare and development.
Responding to criticism of “WhatsApp governance,” Naidu dismissed such allegations as misleading and emphasised the need to leverage technology for efficiency. He urged political leaders to focus on serving the public rather than engaging in political rhetoric.
Reaffirming his commitment to good governance and development, he assured that his government would work towards improving the standard of living for the people of Andhra Pradesh in the coming years.
