TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday, launched the ‘Maha Sakthi Chaitanya Ratha Yatra’ vehicle at the TDP headquarters, emphasising the significance of women empowerment.

Naidu stated that women are at the forefront of his ‘Maha Sakthi’ movement and highlighted the TDP’s unwavering commitment to women’s welfare since its inception. He expressed confidence that the various schemes introduced as part of ‘Maha Sakthi’ would bring about revolutionary improvements in the living conditions of women in the state.

Naidu recalled the pioneering move by the late NT Rama Rao in 1986, granting women rights in ancestral property, which was later adopted nationwide.

Acknowledging that women constitute 50% of the state’s population, Naidu said that they possess equal strength and influence as men in all domains.

He further mentioned the implementation of various innovative schemes for women’s welfare, including the appointment of women as bus conductors.

Expressing strong criticism of the current schemes implemented in the State, Naidu highlighted several loopholes in the ‘Amma Vodi’ scheme. He questioned whether it is sufficient to extend benefits to only one child in a family, neglecting the others. Consequently, Naidu announced the TDP’s intention to introduce the ‘Talliki Vandanam’ scheme, which aims to provide an annual amount of Rs 15,000 to every child in the family.

Naidu also drew attention to the exorbitant prices of gas cylinders, causing financial strain on middle-class women. He assured that if the TDP regains power, the Maha Sakthi scheme will ensure the distribution of three gas cylinders to each family. Additionally, Naidu mentioned the TDP’s efforts in supplying sanitary napkins to women and providing nutritious food to pregnant women through the Amritha Hastam scheme.

“My objective is to empower women and I encourage them to showcase their strength to Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy,” maintained Chandrababu Naidu. As part of the campaign, leaders travelling in these vehicles will engage in door-to-door visits and organise special programmes to connect with the people.
