Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed strong displeasure over the violence that broke out in Podili, Prakasam district, during YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s interaction with tobacco farmers. He directed DGP Harish Kumar Gupta to gather evidence and initiate legal action against those responsible.
Condemning the attacks allegedly carried out by YSRC cadres, Naidu questioned the motive behind mobilising people district-wide in the name of farmer consultations. “Is he going to meet farmers or incite violence? There is no place for such anarchy in my government,” the CM said.
He alleged that Jagan’s visits were not genuinely aimed at addressing farmers’ issues but were intended to create disturbances and assert political presence. Naidu clarified that the government has no objection to peaceful protests or consultations and is granting permissions where sought. “But their conduct during every tour is becoming increasingly objectionable,” he added.
