Former minister and Machilipatnam MLA Perni Venkataramaiah (Nani) has accused TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu of opposing the volunteer system that provides pensions and government welfare schemes to beneficiaries.
Addressing media personnel on Sunday, Nani asserted that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s introduction of the volunteer system aims to benefit the poor, while opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu has consistently shown resistance to this initiative. Nani criticised Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and Purandeswari for their disparaging remarks against the volunteers, alleging that their actions have inflicted suffering on the underprivileged. He claimed that Chandrababu Naidu and his associates conspired to cause distress to 66 lakh impoverished individuals over the next three months.
Highlighting efforts to disrupt pension disbursements, Nani accused Chandrababu Naidu and his supporters of attempting to impede governance services. He denounced the Citizen for Democracy forum as politically motivated, stressing their opposition to the volunteer system.
About Pawan Kalyan’s electoral appeals in Pithapuram, Nani suggested that the opposition’s aspirations are limited to securing individual victories, as they anticipate Jagan Mohan Reddy’s reelection as Chief Minister in 2024.
Nani characterized the Citizens for Democracy forum as Chandrababu Naidu’s auxiliary, led by Justice Bhavani Prasad, who held prominent positions during the TDP regime. He alleged collusion between Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, Kapil Sibal, and others to file legal challenges against pension disbursements.
Expressing dismay over the Election Commission’s perceived inaction, Nani questioned the lack of response to violations such as erecting banners near Chandrababu Naidu’s office and the distribution of checks by Bhuvaneshwari. He demanded accountability from the Election Commission, insinuating bias in their actions.
Nani interpreted Pawan Kalyan’s promise to establish a private hospital in Pithapuram as a tacit acknowledgement of the opposition’s anticipated defeat and Jagan Mohan Reddy’s impending victory.
He praised CM Jagan’s “Memantha Siddhan” bus yatra, emphasizing widespread public support despite setbacks faced by volunteers.
