In a significant turn of events within the State’s political landscape, TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu is slated to visit Delhi on Wednesday following a summons from the BJP high command received late Tuesday evening. This development arises amidst lingering uncertainties regarding the BJP’s potential inclusion within the electoral alliance formed by the TDP and the Jana Sena Party, helmed by Pawan Kalyan, for the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu is scheduled to hold discussions with BJP national president J. P. Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the evening. Sources indicate the possible participation of Pawan Kalyan in these discussions. Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that BJP national leadership had engaged in preliminary discussions with Naidu via telephone. The outcome of these talks remains undisclosed at present.
However, Naidu’s forthcoming meeting with senior BJP leaders in Delhi is perceived as a significant stride toward the potential inclusion of the BJP within the TDP-Jana Sena Party coalition. Sources anticipate a clearer picture to emerge by Wednesday night, with seat-sharing deliberations likely to conclude by the weekend. An announcement concerning the alliance is expected by February 14 or 15.
Speculations linger regarding potential advantages for the TDP in the event of a BJP alliance, amidst concerns of a potential estrangement of minority communities from the party.
