Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the poor, declaring that Andhra Pradesh is the only state in India spending Rs 34,000 crore annually on pensions.
Speaking at a public meeting at Praja Vedika in Cheyyeru, Mummidivaram constituency, under the Pedala Sevalo programme, Naidu asserted, “We are delivering on our Super Six promises in just 11 months. Our governance is transparent and corruption-free, unlike the previous regime, which ran scams in the name of welfare.”
The Chief Minister handed over pensions to NREGA workers Ratnamma and Mariyamma and interacted with beneficiaries. He noted that pensions now reach accounts on the 1st of every month, with special categories like dialysis patients receiving Rs 10,000 and bedridden persons getting Rs 15,000. This month, over 71,000 widows were given Rs 4,000 each, with a total disbursal of Rs 111.41 crore.
Compared with other states, he pointed out, “We’re giving Rs 48,000 per year—more than what NREGA pays in 100 days—while Maharashtra gives Rs 1,000 and Telangana Rs 2,500.”
From June 1, ration supplies will be distributed via Fair Price Shops from the 1st to the 15th of every month. Home delivery will be offered to senior citizens and the differently abled, while others can opt for Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT). He slammed the previous delivery system as a “black market via Kakinada port.”
Naidu also announced that funds for three free LPG cylinders per year under the Deepam scheme will be directly credited to women’s accounts every four months. The upcoming Talli Ki Vandanam scheme will provide Rs 15,000 per child, while eligible farmers will get Rs 20,000 under the Annadata scheme.
Teachers and fishermen also benefited, with GO 217 revoked and 16,347 teacher posts to be filled via DSC. Emphasising economic revival in Konaseema, he proposed intercropping in coconut plantations and two buffaloes per poor family.
Naidu pledged to support 5 lakh work-from-home professionals and create 20 lakh jobs. Under the Surya Ghar scheme, 35 lakh households will get rooftop solar units, with special subsidies for SC/ST/BC families. “We’re not just talking change—we’re delivering it. CBN is here. AP is open for investment,” he concluded.
