Naidu warns ‘negligent’ officials

Must read

After visiting the flood-hit areas in Vijayawada, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting with the officials on Monday and expressed displeasure over a few officials on their behaviour. The CM warned those officials that if the laziness of the previous government is not left, it will not be tolerated.
The CM said that the performance of the officers should bring a good name to the government. He said that he had swung into action and a few officials were still in their slumber. The CM expressed his displeasure over the delay in the distribution of food even though the food could be brought as per the expectation.
A minister brought to the notice of the CM that there was a delay in the distribution of food due to some senior officers on duty in the flood-hit Budameru area.
The minister said that the issue arose in the area where a few officials who were pro-YSRCP showed negligence resulting in a delay in distributing food to flood victims.
The minister told the CM that he had found out that the officials were acting deliberately so that the distribution was not done properly and quickly. It is reported that there was a discussion in the CM’s review that some officials of the DIG level have come to perform duties in the flood-affected areas who are in VR. It seems that some officers like Kolli Raghuram Reddy, Vijaya Rao, Raghuveera Reddy, Srikanth, Satyanand, Gopalakrishna, who are currently in VR due to allegations in various issues, are performing duties there.
Taking the information given by the minister seriously, the CM has ordered a report on the delay in food distribution in the area where the officials are on duty.
However, the higher officials told the CM that those officers in VR were appointed on duty there as part of the bandobast. CM Chandrababu said on this occasion that if they don’t want to work, they should leave their jobs and go home. When the people are suffering, officers acting reluctantly is not correct, said the CM and told the officials to coordinate with each other in distributing food. On this occasion, the CM advised the officials to talk to the officials of the neighbouring districts and bring another 3 lakh food packets and water bottles. A senior officer has been assigned to the work to oversee the flood relief efforts. He wanted to examine all the possibilities of providing fruits to the flood victims. Officials told the CM that they were bringing fruits from various areas.
