Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy ordered the officials to take immediate steps to provide irrigation water to the farmers of Nalgonda district.
In the review of irrigation projects of Nalgonda district under the supervision of Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy in the Secretariat, the two ministers gave directions to the officials about the steps to be taken to complete the irrigation projects in the district as soon as possible.
Minister Venkat Reddy said that there was a huge injustice to the Nalgonda irrigation projects during the previous government. He expressed grief that the SLBC project, where majority of the works have been completed, has also been neglected. He said that though he himself spoke about this project many times in the Assembly, the then Chief Minister did not respond at all. The Congress government is serious about completing the Nalgonda irrigation projects, he said. He said that the people of the district are lucky to have Uttam Kumar Reddy from the district as the Minister of Irrigation.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said, “Along with the Udayasamudram Brahmanavellamula Lift Irrigation Scheme canals, which provide irrigation to one lakh acres, the pending SLBC tunnel works should be taken up and completed on a war footing. Though the SLBC canals were completed by the previous Congress government, the BRS government did not even maintain them. Due to lack of maintenance of SLBC canals and flood canal since the last 10 years, trees and silt have increased.” He directed the officials to undertake repairs to the works, bed and sides lining work within this year and make them available.
Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy directed the officials to take up land acquisition for 50,000 acres in the first phase and another 50,000 acres in the second phase under Udaya Samudram project, complete the works of digging canals and make plans to provide irrigation water to one lakh acres of embankment.

The Chief Minister is positive about Nalgonda district projects. They said that they will provide necessary assistance to complete the projects. About Rs100 crore will be released for the first phase of Udaya Samudhar land acquisition and another Rs100 crore for the works. The two ministers ordered the officials to work tirelessly and take steps to complete the first phase within a year and provide irrigation to 50,000 acres.
