Nalgonda Police seize 103 grams of marijuana, arrest 5

Nalgonda Police on Tuesday seized 103 kg of marijuana and arrested five persons. 

District Superintendent of Police K Apporva said that the Task Force police, acting on a tip-off, arrested five persons travelling in a bus and seized from them the contraband and mobile phone from them. The police personnel, while conducting a vehicle search operation at Korlapad check-post on Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway, noticed that some persons on seeing the security personnel tried to get down from a bus and flee. The police chased them and caught them. They were found to have been in possession of 43 packets of marijuana, weighing 103 kg, worth Rs 10 lakh, she said. 

During interrogation, the arrested persons arrested confessed to having tried to smuggle the contraband from Malkangir in Odisha to Hyderabad by a private bus. They also told the police that they were going to Hyderabad to deliver the marijuana to persons in Hyderabad, the police said.

The arrested are Ashok Tarapdar, Abjith Tarpardar, a student, Phani Tarapardar, Jeevan Singh, Danujaniah Biswas, and Sikha Biswas. Two more persons Vinay and Viveka are absconding. 

The Task Force Police conducted the operation under the supervision of Nalgonda Deputy Superintendent of Police Narasimha Reddy and Circle Inspector Raghav Rao. The SP complimented Ketanpally sub-inspector Anil Reddy and his staff Ajad, Nageswar Rao, Kishore and Suresh.
