Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh is contemplating embarking on a walkathon from January 27, 2023.

According to TDP sources, Nara Lokesh is planning to take out a marathon padayatra from January 27, 2023, from Kuppam in Chittoor district and conclude the same after reaching Ichapuram in Srikakulam district.

TDP sources said that the senior leaders were preparing the road map for the walkathon. Lokesh padayatra would mainly focus on attracting the youth and unemployed during his padayatra.

It may be mentioned here that previously the then Congress leader YS Rajasekhar Reddy took out padayatra and he became the Chief Minister of the combined AP state after the elections. Later TDP chief and then leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu also took out padayatra covering many districts in the combined AP state and later he became the Chief Minister of the residuary AP state.

Taking a cue from the leaders, the then-leader of the Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also carried out a walkathon covering thousands of kilometres which made him the Chief Minister of the state in 2019.

Now it is the turn of Nara Lokesh to take out such a marathon padayatra to infuse confidence and enthusiasm in the cadre. During the padayatra, Lokesh would stay in the houses of activists and interact with the people to know their problems. Lokesh’s padayatra would continue for about one year.

The TDP leaders are planning the ‘padayatra’ in such a way that it would conclude a few months before the Assembly elections slated to be held during April and May months in 2024, TDP leaders said. The TDP leaders would announce a name to Lokesh’s ‘padayatra’.

Meanwhile, TDP State Executive Secretary and Workers’ Welfare Fund Coordinator Sistla Lohith said that Telugu Desam Party national general secretary Nara Lokesh would create awareness among people through his padayatra on the wrong policies of the YSRCP-led government.

In a statement on Friday, from Gudivada in Krishna district, speaking on the occasion, Sistla Lohith expressed happiness over the finalisation of the Nara Lokesh Padayatra. He said that Nara Lokesh Padayatra would start Padayatra on 27th January 2023.
