National Backward Classes Welfare Assn calls for Chalo Parl on Aug 6

Must read

Rajya Sabha member and President of the National Backward Classes Welfare Association R Krishnaiah said that the Backward Classes Welfare Association is organising a Chalo Parliament programme on August 6  demanding that the Central government  allocate a budget of Rs 2 crore for the development of Backward Castes (BCs) and introduce the BC Bill in the Parliament.
R Krishnaiah said that the Central government has not given any priority to the BCs in proportion to their population for the last 76 years. There is minimal representation in employment, political, economic and social sectors.
He said that people of the BC castes are producing wealth for the country. But they are denied share in the wealth of the nation. The BCs are not getting the minimum share in the budget. They are giving political power by franchising their votes, but they are not giving any share in politics. It is a democratic country which should give share to all castes and social groups according to their population.
According to the recent statistics of the Central government, the representation of BCs in the political arena is not more than 14 per cent. Since independence the percentage of BC ministers has never crossed 14 percent.
Krishnaiah said that in 76 years of democracy, the 56 per cent of BC population never crossed 14 per cent in the political arena, 9 per cent in the employment arena, one percent in the industrial sector, one percent for Supreme Court,  High Court judges, and 5 percent in the private sector jobs. The number is clearly evident that a lot of injustice has been done.
