National Sports Day celebrated in city

National Sports Day was celebrated at Gachibowli Stadium on Thursday, with Ministers Sridhar Babu and Seethakka, and Sports Advisor Jitender Reddy as the chief guests. The ministers garlanded the statue of Dhyan Chand on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, State IT Minister D Sridhar Babu spoke about the government’s commitment to supporting sports and athletes. He mentioned that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is focused on promoting sports and plans to create a new sports policy. The Chief Minister has studied successful sports programmes in countries like South Korea to implement similar ideas in the State.
Sridhar Babu also announced that sports schools will be connected to the upcoming Sports University to provide professional training to young athletes. He emphasised that the government has given jobs to athletes who have earned recognition at national and international levels.
Sports Advisor Jitender Reddy noted that the government has allocated Rs 364 crore for sports development. He highlighted that the Chief Minister is giving priority to sports, which has been overlooked in the past decade.

The event was also attended by State Sports Authority president N Shiv Sena Reddy and Youth, Sports & Culture Department Principal Secretary Vani Prasad. Prominent athletes and union leaders were honoured during the celebration.
