‘Navaratnalu’ a weapon to fight poverty: Min

Information Minister Ch Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna has said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched ‘Navaratnalu’ as a weapon to fight poverty and development means eradicating poverty by raising the living standards of the poor.

He said that it is the responsibility of the chairman and directors of each corporation to identify those who are eligible and did not get the welfare schemes and ensure that the beneficiaries get the schemes immediately.

The Minister was the chief guest at a meeting with the chairmen and directors of 56 BC corporations held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada on Tuesday. On this occasion, the Minister said under the governance of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the self-esteem of BCs has increased.

The CM has given a new definition to the BCs saying that they are not Backward Classes but the ‘Backbone Classes’, said the minister. He said that it is a historic decision to establish 56 corporations for 139 BC castes in the State and said that late leader Dr YSR Rajasekhar introduced the Fee Reimbursement scheme so that the BCs can achieve great heights in life by pursuing higher education. He recalled that the previous TDP government had deceived the BCs and damaged their self-esteem.

While Dr. YSR had taken a step forward to support the BCs, CM YS Jagan has taken ten steps to help the BCs in all aspects, he said and added that about Rs 1.40 lakh crore has been spent under the Navratnalu scheme for the BCs. The minister called upon all the people to take the government’s schemes and policies widely to the masses.

The Minister said that our CM Jagan is a brave and courageous leader who asked the people directly, “If you like my administration, then vote for me.” Minister Venugopala Krishna called upon all the BCs to stand by the Chief Minister and strongly refute the false allegations of the Opposition.
