Hyderabad: The Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial is not yet open to the public, although almost a month has passed after its inauguration. Curious visitors are enquiring with security personnel about visiting the Memorial. The Memorial was inaugurated by Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao on June 22. When ‘The Pioneer’ correspondent visited the Memorial, the gates were closed and a board outside said ‘Work is in progress.’ Security personnel said the Memorial would open on July 30. However, details about tickets and entry timings are not clear. People are coming in huge numbers even on weekdays and during weekends the crowds are more. People are taking pictures and selfies. Ice cream sellers and vendors selling food are making a quick buck along with balloon sellers. Children were seen playing outside the gate. The ‘Diya’ shaped memorial was built at a cost of Rs 179 crore to honour the martyrs who fought for a Telangana state.
