Need to prevent spread of dengue stressed

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi emphasised the importance of  efforts in preventing dengue. She participated as the chief guest at an awareness programme held at Film Club Venkateswara Colony on Thursday for students who volunteered to help prevent dengue.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor Vijayalakshmi stressed that these student volunteers should be fully educated about dengue prevention in their respective colonies. Keeping the environment clean is crucial in preventing the spread of dengue. She advised residents to maintain clean and hygienic surroundings.
Vijayalakshmi also urged students to ensure that water does not stagnate in air coolers, tires, and plant pots at home. She encouraged volunteers to educate colony residents to observe every Friday as a dry day. Additionally, teachers in schools should explain the necessary steps to be taken for maintaining cleanliness and preventing mosquito breeding during the morning prayers, She added.

The Mayor stressed the need to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in stagnated water and mentioned that the GHMC has taken extensive measures to control mosquito populations. She noted that the success of any program relies on the active participation of the community, ensuring that future generations are informed and prepared.
