The neonatal ambulances have saved lives of at least 1,195 newborn babies in the district so far.
The ambulances have been equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities like ventilator and incubator and other amenities.
For want of such amenities in private ambulances, there were several instances of children dying route to hospitals.
Last year, the BRS government allotted neonatal ambulances to each government hospital in all districts of undivided Mahabubnagar district.
According to needs of the CHCs, urban clinics, rural clinics, requisition from ANMs, ASHA workers and general public, the neonatal ambulance services will be offered to them along with the personnel. The ambulance transfers babies free of cost to the referral hospitals in Hyderabad.
