New law to strengthen Revenue dept: Dharmana

Minister for Revenue Dharmana Prasada Rao has announced the initiation of groundbreaking legislation aimed at fortifying the Revenue Department during a ceremony in Jangareddygudem on Saturday.
The newly unveiled Revenue Division Office (RDO) building, constructed at a cost of Rs 1.75 crore, was inaugurated by the esteemed Revenue Minister. Notable figures such as MP Kotagiri Sridhar and Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh were in attendance.
In his address, Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao underscored the potential legal challenges to current entitlements under the current ‘Conclusion Title’ and emphasised the impending legislation designed to address such concerns.
“We are introducing a pioneering law to bolster the Revenue department, a first-of-its-kind in the country. The effectiveness of the Act will be gauged based on public response. A successful implementation in Andhra Pradesh will pave the way for nationwide adoption by the Central government,” he asserted.
Dharmana Prasada Rao highlighted that other states are contemplating a comprehensive land survey, mirroring the ongoing initiative in Andhra Pradesh, with assurance of full cooperation from the Centre. He stressed the imperative need for continuous professional development among revenue officials at all levels.
Commending the reputation earned by the Revenue Department through executed programmes over the past four and a half years, the Minister pointed out the government’s significant investment of Rs 12,800 crore to procure private lands for housing the homeless during the pandemic.
MP Kotagiri Sridhar commended the government’s financial commitment of Rs 2.40 lakh crore to welfare schemes and Rs 1 lakh crore for development projects. Collector Prasanna Venkatesh noted the distribution of one lakh house sites to the underprivileged in the Eluru district.
MLAs Unnamatla Eliza, Tellam Balaraju, Talari Venkata Rao, and Joint Collector B Lavanya Veni also addressed the gathering. ZP Chairman Ghanta Padmasree, TTD Board Member Meka Seshubabu, Municipal Chairman Bathina Nagalakshmi, State Food Commission Member Ganjimala Devi, and ZPTC P Babji were among the dignitaries present.
