New principals for 6 medical colleges

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has approved the appointment of new principals to six government medical colleges and new superintendents to five teaching hospitals in Andhra Pradesh. Following this approval, the Department of Medical and Health issued orders on Sunday.

Three existing principals and one superintendent have been transferred as part of the directives. In comparison, three new principals and five new superintendents have been appointed to fill vacancies within the Medical and Health Department.

Dr KVSM Sandhya Devi, currently serving as temporary principal and professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, has been appointed principal of Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam. Professor of Anaesthesia Dr A Vishnu Vardhan, who was previously vice-principal at Kakinada Government Medical College, has now been appointed as its principal. The current principal, Dr DDSV Narasimham, will continue in an in-charge capacity.

Dr G Rajeswari, professor of Biochemistry at GMC Rajamahendravaram, has been appointed principal of GMC Nellore. Dr KAV Subramanyam, professor of Endocrinology at AMC Visakhapatnam, has been appointed superintendent of GGH Ongole.

Dr C Amulya, professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at AMC Visakhapatnam, will now serve as superintendent of GGH Srikakulam. Dr AV Rao, who had been serving as temporary superintendent at GGH Vijayawada, has now been given full charge.

Dr J Radha, professor of Anaesthesia at Sri Venkateswara Medical College, has been appointed superintendent of SVRRGH Tirupati. Dr V Manmadha Rao, professor of General Surgery at AMC Visakhapatnam, has been appointed superintendent of GGH Visakhapatnam.

Meanwhile, Dr DVSL Narasimham, currently serving as principal of GMC Kakinada and Director of Medical Education (DME), will continue as DME in-charge. Dr A Surekha, principal at GMC Kadapa, has been transferred to GMC Nandyal. Dr T Jamuna, superintendent at GGH Ongole, has been transferred to serve as principal at GMC Kadapa. Dr G Ravi Prabhu, superintendent at SVRRGH Tirupati, will now assume the role of principal at Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati.

It has emerged that out of twelve individuals recently recommended for promotion to the DME level, five declined their promotions. Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav has expressed concern over this trend and brought it to the attention of the Chief Minister.
