Ahead of its inauguration on April 30, the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat will be reflecting Telangana’s culture. Paintings and handicrafts reflecting the state’s art are likely to be displayed at the Secretariat.
The TS Secretariat is possibly the fastest-built Secretariat as it was completed in 26 months. Spread on 28 acres, the Secretariat has a four-door Bahubali entrance 29 feet wide and 24 feet tall.
The 265 feet tall structure has about 875 doors. The electricity lines are 2200 KV and it has three generators of 500 KVW. 7,000 tonnes of steel, 35,000 tonnes of cement, 26,000 tonnes of sand, 60,000 cubic meters of concrete, 11 lakh bricks, one lakh sq.ft marble, and two lakh sq.ft granite were used for its construction. Around 12,000 people worked in three shifts to complete it.
Around 560 cars and 7502 two-wheelers can be parked in the secretariat compound. The old secretariat was known for its big trees, but the new one will be known for its spacious lawns. Around eight acres have been allocated for greenery. A canteen, library, bank, ATMs and an open kitchen are part of it. Two big fountains like the ones in parliament have also been installed.
Around 650 SPF personnel will be deployed to ensure security at the Secretariat. After several high-level meetings, it was decided to entrust security to the TSSP.
A room named ‘Janahitha’ which can accommodate 250 people has been set up so that the CM can meet people. Another Cabinet hall has been designed for Cabinet meetings. A 25-seater dining hall for VVIPs has also been provided.
The Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat will be inaugurated on April 30. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will take his seat in his chambers at 1.20 pm on that day and is likely to sign on welfare scheme related files.
