In a public letter to senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy questioned the actions of the Congress in Telangana, particularly the induction of BRS MLCs and MLAs into the party.
He accused Rahul of breaking the promises he made during the Lok Sabha elections and disrespecting the Constitution.
Niranjan criticised Rahul for swearing by the Constitution while simultaneously welcoming BRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy into the Congress.
He highlighted the inconsistency in Rahul’s statements about protecting democratic governments and strengthening the Anti-Defection Law introduced during Rajiv Gandhi’s rule.
He questioned why Rahul, if committed to political values and principles, does not ask the newly joined members to resign and seek public mandate again.
He accused Rahul of double standards pointing to the lack of similar action for members like Keshava Rao, who was asked to resign before joining.
He emphasized that as a citizen, he finds it troubling how Rahul reconciles these contradictions and suggested that the nation would consider his actions as double standards.
Niranjan also brought up past instances when bipartisan support was shown for Rahul during his legal troubles and questioned why similar constitutional adherence is not being demanded now.
Highlighting the increasing demand for foreign investments in electric vehicles, Niranjan suggested that foreign investments should be attracted and assured government cooperation for that.
He concluded by saying that these issues will be raised at the national level and demanded a response from Rahul.
