Must read

The 13th edition of the Hyderabad Marathon presented by the Hyderabad Runners Society, sponsored by NMDC, in partnership with IDFC First Bank, has announced its affiliation with the World Athletics on Thursday.
The NMDC Hyderabad Marathon has been granted the World Athletics “Basic” label. World Athletics, formerly known as the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics covering track and field events.
International sports federations such as World Athletics are taking on new hosts with the philosophy of ‘sport for all’ and the Hyderabad Marathon is its latest addition. As the second marathon in India to receive this label, the affiliation puts Hyderabad on the world map of the international sporting calendar, boosting our city’s standing globally. Only 220 marathons have a label from World Athletics and the Hyderabad Marathon will now be one of the most sought-after marathons in the country and the world.
In a meeting to announce the World Athletics label for the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon, Telangana Chief Minister  A. Revanth Reddy said,  “I would like to congratulate the Hyderabad Runners Society for getting Hyderabad city on the World Athletics calendar through the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon by getting the World Athletics Label. We will support the event to meet all the necessary criteria of World Athletics and grow the event. I wish all the participants the best of luck.”
Rajesh Vetcha, the race director for this edition of the marathon, said, “In the years to come, Hyderabad will produce some of the finest athletes in the country in both amateur and elite categories.”
Abhijit, the President of Hyderabad Runners said, “We are incredibly proud of the World Athletics Basic label and we are looking forward to hosting elite runners from all over the world who will participate in the marathon and rack up their points.”
