TPCC President A. Revanth Reddy warned party leaders and cadres that they will face action if they stage dharnas on the steps of the Gandhi Bhavan. He warned that the party will suspend leaders and cadres who stage dharnas on the steps of the Gandhi Bhavan. Revanth asked TPCC Disciplinary Action Committee Chairman Dr G. Chinna Reddy on Saturday to take action if anyone violates party discipline. He asked Congress leaders and cadres to submit their memorandums to Working President (Organising) Mahesh Kumar Goud and Vem Narender Reddy and that the party will take a decision on them after holding discussions.

Local Congress leaders and activists from Thurkapally in Alair constituency were staging a dharna when Revanth came to Gandhi Bhavan. This angered Revanth and he collected details from them. The Congress leaders from Thurkapally told Revanth that the party gave positions to the followers of constituency in-charge Birla Aialiah and MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in seven of the eight mandals in Alair constituency.

But Revanth asked them why they were opposing a woman who was given a post in one of the mandals. He directed Gandhi Bhavan in-charge PCC Vice-President Kumar Rao to collect information about them and to suspend them if they do not end their dharna immediately.

He also directed the concerned party authorities to suspend Mandal Committee President Shankar Naik.

It may be recalled that local Congress leaders and cadres across the state have been staging dharnas on the steps of the Gandhi Bhavan complaining that they faced injustice while appointing mandal committees in the last two weeks.
