Minister for Housing and I & PR K Parthasarathy has assured the public not to panic over Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and instructed medical officers to ensure the availability of necessary medicines and injections for treatment.
Speaking to the media on Monday, the Minister urged medical officials to address public concerns about GBS and provide accurate information regarding the disease. He directed that medicines and injections be made available in all government hospitals in Eluru district and called for emergency medicines to be stocked in cardiology, neurology, and general medicine departments.
“In light of reports of GBS in various districts, urgent immunoglobulin injections must be accessible. GBS patients should be treated through Aarogyasri. Most cases of GBS can be cured without treatment. The disease starts in the legs and spreads to the upper body,” Parthasarathy explained, advising the public to maintain proper hygiene.
The Minister urged anyone experiencing cramps or difficulty walking to seek treatment at government hospitals.
He also instructed officials to ensure the availability of insulin injections for diabetic patients and factor injections for haemophilia patients in all hospitals.
Additionally, Parthasarathy called for a sufficient stock of Tenecteplase injections, crucial for heart disease patients, to be made available in all government hospitals. He highlighted that these life-saving injections are often unaffordable in the regular market and should be provided to the poor.
