The Director General of Police, Dr Jitender, strongly refuted allegations by the Telangana Civil Rights Society that toxic substances were used during the Mulugu district encounter to incapacitate individuals before the encounter. Describing it as baseless propaganda, he said the allegations were false.
Giving details, Dr Jitender said that before the encounter, two tribal men, Uyika Ramesh and Uyika Arjun, were murdered by Maoists due to suspicion that they were police informers.
The incident underscored the severity of Maoist violence in the region leading to intensified patrolling by the police.
During the encounter, Maoists reportedly opened fire on the patrolling team using advanced weapons. The exchange resulted in the deaths of seven armed Maoists.

Dr Jitender said that postmortem exams of the deceased are being conducted as per the guidelines issued by the High Court and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

He also said that a Deputy Superintendent of Police from another district has been appointed as the investigating officer to ensure impartiality in the inquiry.
