Chief Minister Revanth Reddy extended New Year greetings to the people of Telangana, highlighting the challenges his government has faced during financially turbulent times.
Addressing officials and employees, the Chief Minister acknowledged the difficulties inherited from the previous decade and emphasized his government’s commitment to restoring governance and ensuring welfare for all.
On the issue of regularising outsourced and contract employees, particularly under schemes like Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Revanth said that legal and policy constraints make this unfeasible. “Pushing for regularization without legal backing will escalate problems, not solve them,” he added.
He said that one of the first measures taken by his administration was ensuring timely payment of salaries to
government employees. “From the first of every month, salaries are being credited without fail, despite financial constraints,” he said.
The Chief Minister outlined the state’s monthly financial challenges, stating that the government earns Rs 18,500 crore per month, but requires Rs 30,000 crore to meet all needs, leaving a deficit of Rs 4,000 crore.
Key expenditures are Rs 6,500 crore for salaries and allowances, Rs 6,500 crore for loan repayments, and Rs 5,500 crore for welfare schemes. He emphasised the need to increase monthly revenue by at least Rs 4,000 crore to bridge the deficit.
“Over the past year, we have worked to bring about social change in the state. Economic reforms, however, will take more time,” Revanth said, urging employees to give their suggestions for enhancing transparency and revenue generation.
The Chief Minister stressed the importance of welfare programmes reaching genuine beneficiaries and reiterated the role of employees in delivering these schemes effectively.
He assured that the government is committed to resolving their issues without protests and strikes.
He concluded by reaffirming the government’s dedication to addressing employee concerns and enhancing welfare schemes. “This government is yours. Let us work together to increase revenue and ensure its equitable distribution,” he said.
