No-trust move against Kollapur municipal chairperson carried

The no-confidence motion moved by the Congress councillors against the Kollapur BRS municipal chairperson Vijayalakshmi on Tuesday at the venue of new library building was carried out with 16 votes receiving in favour of the motion.
There are 20 councillors in the Kollapur municipality. Out of them, 15 belong to the Congress. Municipal chairperson Vijaya Lakshmi, BRS councillorsPasupula Krishna, Krishna Murty, Satyam Yadav and Anita were conspicuous by their absence.
The police have beefed up security at the venue under the leadership of DSP Srinivas Yadav.
Kalwakurthy RDO Srinu, who is the presiding officer, allowed voting to take place on the motion as the quorum was present at the venue. MLC KuchukullaDamodar Reddy, who is an ex-officio member of the council, and 15 Cong councillors raised their hands to support the motion in the voting carried out by show of hands.
The municipal commissioner said that the new chairman will be elected on directions from district collector at a date to be intimated later.
