Actor Abhai Naveen is making his directorial debut with the movie Ramanna Youth, which is all set for a grand theatrical release on September 15. Apart from directing, he will also be seen playing the lead role in the movie, which also stars Anil Geela, Bunny Abiran, and Amulya Reddy in key roles.

The film is being made as an entertaining political drama by Fire Fly Arts. The pre-release event, which was held in Hyderabad on Monday, was graced by Mass Ka Das Vishwak Sen, Priyadarshi, and Thiruveer as the chief guests, who heaped praise on the movie.

Bunny Abiran, who rose to fame with the movie Pareshan, is playing one of the main roles in the movie. Not only in the movie, but even off screen, Abhai and Bunny are really close friends who have witnessed each other’s growth and have been through thick and thin. According to Bunny Abiran, the movie’s story was planned long ago during their trying times, and he is very confident that his character in the movie will remain memorable.

On how he bagged the character, Bunny told The Pioneer, “We’ve all been friends for a long time. During my struggling days, Abhai once told this story, and I was very impressed. I asked him who he would be casting, and he said, “This is our film; we all will do it together. Let us create our lives.” So he completed the story and pitched it to the producers. When everything was approved, Abhai wanted his friends in the cast, as he is more comfortable with us bringing organic comedy. So that’s how I came on board this movie.” Without revealing much about his character in the movie, he said, “I will play that most chill guy every friend group has, who is jobless and is up to nothing in life.”

About the title, he revealed, During the Bommalaramaram movie, Priyadarshi’s character was Ramanna, and the director felt the title Ramanna Youth would connect with the audience for a story that happens in a small village.”

After watching the trailer of the movie, the audience was in doubt if this movie was another Jathi Ratnalu, but Bunny clarified that Ramanna Youth will have a very fresh story and cannot be compared with any other movie. The Pareshan star explained, “The whole movie takes place in a village called Ankshapur, which also happens to be Abhai’s maternal village. We shot the whole movie there. When you watch the movie, you will definitely feel that you are actually in Ankshapur. It’s a proper village drama, and the youth and their nature—all put together, the movie will have clean and organic comedy, with also a message.”

Every character in the movie has an arc. Bunny shared that his director made all actors read the script at least four times so they all imbibe the character and everything looks natural on screen. Lastly, telling the audience why they must watch the movie in theatres, he said, “This is the story of a ‘grounded karyakarta’. We watched stories of MLAs and, CMs, but nothing about what happens in the life of a Karyakarta who wants to meet an MLA and the consequences he faces. It has youthful comedy, and we are very confident that the audience will love it. After watching the movie, the audience will not only enjoy the comedy but will also feel the emotions in the movie.”
