In a significant breakthrough, the Chilkalguda Police apprehended a notorious automobile thief and three scrap dealers involved in stealing and dismantling vehicles in Hyderabad. The primary accused, Mohammed Sameer, a 28-year-old AC technician from Falaknuma, admitted to targeting parking areas of Gandhi Hospital, Osmania General Hospital, and Government Unani Hospital for stealing motorcycles. Exploiting the lack of CCTV cameras at these locations, Sameer managed to execute multiple thefts. His modus operandi included driving the stolen vehicles for a few days before selling them to scrap dealers in Musheerabad.
The police identified the receivers of the stolen vehicles as Mohammed Yousufuddin, aged 20, Mohammed Moizuddin, aged 25, and Mohammed Khaja Hussain, aged 21, all residents of Gulshan Nagar, Musheerabad. These individuals dismantled the stolen motorcycles into spare parts for resale. The police recovered five intact vehicles and parts from four dismantled motorcycles, with an estimated value of Rs. 4 lakhs.
The recovered items included a Yamaha R15 from Mohammed Sameer, while from Mohammed Yousufuddin, the police retrieved a Bajaj Pulsar, a Bajaj Platina, and spare parts of a Honda Shine and Honda Splendor. Similarly, from Mohammed Moizuddin, they recovered a Hero Passion Pro and spare parts of a Hero Honda Passion Pro. From Mohammed Khaja Hussain, the police recovered a Honda CB Shine and spare parts of a Hero Honda Passion Plus.
Investigations revealed that Sameer was addicted to alcohol and ganja, which led him to commit the thefts to sustain a lavish lifestyle. He had observed the lack of surveillance at hospital parking lots and used this to his advantage. He also admitted to committing thefts during his visits to Osmania General Hospital when his mother was admitted there.
The arrests were made under the supervision of Dr. B. Bala Swamy, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone), and J. Narsaiah, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone). The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner of Police V. Jayapal Reddy and executed by Inspector B. Anudeep, Detective Inspector K. Ramesh Goud, and their crime team, including Sub-Inspector S. Anjaneyulu and constables Naveen Kumar, Jagadish, Shaik Madar Basha, Ganesh, Vinay Kumar, and Krishna.
The police team’s commendable efforts led to the successful recovery of stolen vehicles and the arrest of all the accused involved. They will be rewarded suitably for their dedication. The accused have been booked under relevant sections, and further investigation is underway to uncover more details about their operations.
