BRS President Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is planning to expand his party to other states one after the other. KCR wants to extend the BRS network to other states like spreading water under the carpet.

After Telangana, KCR is concentrating on Maharashtra. The BRS has received encouraging vibes from the people and the politicians of Maharashtra. NCP and Shiv Sena leaders have now started criticising the BRS and KCR regularly. This shows the effect BRS has had on Maharashtra politics.

After Maharashtra, KCR is likely to concentrate on Madhya Pradesh as has a sizeable Telugu population. Last year, on Ugadi Day, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan said that Telugus have contributed a lot to the state’s development.

He also said that BR Naidu, a Telugu, saved his life after he had an accident while Naidu was the collector of Vidisha district.

Telugus are running an ashram in Ujjayani. The people of Madhya Pradesh have a special regard for Telugus. This may prove an advantage to KCR in expanding the BRS in Madhya Pradesh.

In Madhya Pradesh, cities like Bhopal, Ujjaini, Indore and some other areas have sizable numbers of Telugus. Telugus have an association also in the state. This association is undertaking many service-oriented programmes and is organising employment fairs to help the unemployed.

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the BRS and its supremo KCR two days ago at a BJP meeting in Bhopal, the people of Madhya Pradesh came to know about the BRS which till then had no footprint in the state. In fact, Modi introduced the BRS to the people of Madhya Pradesh.

BRS leaders said that the people of Madhya Pradesh may think that their party may become a big force in the state. Otherwise, Modi would not have criticised the BRS.

The PM itself directing flak at the BRS shows the importance of the party in northern states, commented a senior BRS leader. As some Assembly elections and the Lok Sabha elections are approaching KCR is likely to speed up organising BRS units in other states.
