Jana Sena chief K Pawan Kalyan has appealed to the BCs (Backward Classes) to remain united and emphasised the party’s commitment to inclusive social engineering.
Expressing his strong desire for BC empowerment, Pawan Kalyan highlighted the contrasting political advancements of different castes. He wanted a comprehensive study to understand the reasons behind certain castes lagging behind in politics.
Pawan Kalyan was addressing the Gouda and Shetti Balija communities in Bhimavaram on Thursday.
Pawan Kalyan observed that the Gouda caste in Telangana comprises five sub-castes, and he expressed his wish for a similar existence in Andhra Pradesh. He identified internal divisions within sub-castes as a significant hurdle contributing to political backwardness.
“The JSP is dedicated to the welfare of BCs. Currently, ruling parties only grant positions to four BC leaders, neglecting the rest,” lamented Pawan Kalyan. He emphasized the need for strong BC leaders at the Panchayat level to pave the way for their future political success.
Additionally, Pawan Kalyan expressed his aspiration to witness a leader from the Gouda community become Chief Minister. He criticised the YSRCP government for reducing BC reservations in local body elections from 33% to 24%, causing injustice to 16,000 BCs. He promised to increase BC reservations in local body elections if his party comes to power.
“If elected, the JSP will allocate shares in government liquor shops to toddy tapper societies. Furthermore, we will allocate sites for the construction of community halls and marriage halls for the Shetti Bhalija and Gouda castes in every district,” Pawan Kalyan assured. He also acknowledged the challenges of implementing complete prohibition in various states across the country.
Pawan Kalyan criticised the YSRCP for attempting to exploit caste divisions for their political advantage. He accused the YSRCP government of removing 1.42 lakh eligible beneficiaries from the ‘Amma Vodi’ programme.
