District Collector C Narayana Reddy, in a statement asking people living downstream of the project to be vigilant as the radial crest gates of the Nagarjunasagar project will be lifted at 8 am on Monday as the reservoir is likely to be filled to its full capacity.
He appealed to the people not to venture into the river for bathing, youth not to go to the river for swimming and also not to take cattle, goats, buffaloes etc. into the river.
He said that at present, there is a huge flood from Srisailam project to Nagarjuna Sagar project and at any time the Nagarjuna Sagar project reservoir will reach its full storage capacity. The full capacity of the project is 312.505 tmcft, which has reached 266.358 tmcft so far, the Collector said, adding that the full capacity of the Nagarjuna Sagar project reservoir is likely to be reached anytime in view of the flood situation from the Srisailam project.
About two lakh cusecs of water is being released downstream through the radial crust gates of the Nagarjuna Sagar project.
